You're a data infrastructure expert with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and future-ready platforms. As our Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer you will take responsibility for designing and evolving our global data infrastructure-ensuring it's fast, cost-effective, secure, and aligned with business goals. You'll work across AWS and GCP environments, optimizing performance and driving architectural decisions that power Freightos' internal analytics and customer-facing products.
This is a highly strategic role that blends deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration. You'll partner with engineering, SRE, security, and legal teams to define best practices in data governance, quality, and access. You'll also serve as a thought expert-promoting consistency, sharing knowledge, and helping us scale smarter.
If you're excited about building bold, cloud-native data systems that help move the world of freight online-this is your opportunity., Support and execute the company-wide database and data infrastructure strategy under the direction of the Senior Manager, Data, to ensure scalability, reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency as the business grows.
- Serve as the principal database and data infrastructure advisor to Data leadership, providing expert guidance on company-wide architecture decisions across AWS & GCP (Postgres, MySQL, Aurora DSQL, ClickHouse, SingleStore, BigQuery).
- Design, implement, and improve database and data platform architectures, ensuring the right technology is used for each workload and growth stage.
- Ensure reliability and performance of all data products, including operational databases, analytics platforms, and data warehouses, in partnership with SRE and engineering teams.
- Implement and operationalize data quality, governance, and compliance foundations, ensuring trusted and consistent data, including access controls, sensitive data handling, and regulatory readiness (GDPR).
- Lead data knowledge and consistency execution, maintaining shared definitions across product, platform, and data (data dictionary, metrics definitions, schemas) to accelerate development, improve knowledge transfer, and ensure consistency between product behavior and data outputs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Scalability?, * 6+ years of experience in database administration, data engineering, or data infrastructure roles supporting production systems at scale.
- Advanced SQL proficiency, with a strong understanding of performance tuning, data modeling, and complex analytical workloads.
- Demonstrated experience across multiple database technologies, including relational, analytical (BigQuery), and specialized databases in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Clickhouse).
- Experience evaluating and recommending database architectures based on scalability, cost, and workload characteristics.
- Strong background in data governance and quality practices, including data cataloging, metadata management, access control models, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience defining and implementing data quality standards for accuracy, consistency, and reliability of business-critical data.
- Experience optimizing database and data warehouse costs in cloud environments.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and SRE.
- High-level business English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
