Job description
The Alternatives Client Services team support all of BlackRock's privately placed alternatives products, including private credit, private equity, real asset funds and hedge funds and fund of hedge funds from the time of investor onboarding throughout the life cycle of the fund. The team are primarily responsible for investor onboarding, report distribution, transfer agency oversight and investor queries as well as internal and external reporting and client data management.
Daily tasks may include:
- Participate in fund closing groups, review and comment on term sheets and legal documents. Understand fund structures, legal entities, and different investor entry points affecting onboarding.
- Coordinate with Product Strategy and Sales Teams on the client pipeline during the fund offering period, and provide all stakeholders with accurate updates regarding AML/KYC, subscription materials, and FATCA/CRS status.
- Manage the client onboarding process including subscription document review and AML/KYC coordination. This also includes partnering with the transfer agencies and financial crimes and compliance team for the proper sign off ahead of the fund closing.
- Coordinate with BlackRock Legal and external counsel on subscription documents and side letter updates. Ensure the team shares only approved materials with investors and meets all credit facility and reporting requirements.
- Develop a thorough understanding of transfer agent AML/KYC requirements, investor risk ratings, and jurisdictional differences-enabling you to question ambiguous guidance, especially when it could negatively affect clients. Gain familiarity with Compliance and MLRO signoffs and adapt quickly to varying requests from different jurisdictions.
- Manage and maintain electronic filing systems for legal and contract documents, ensuring appropriate oversight.
- Coordinate account-level reporting and client distributions on monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules, ensuring all deadlines and side letter requirements are met.
- Coordinate cash flow management with clients and portfolio managers (e.g. contributions, redemptions, capital calls/distributions and product updates with clients). Track and handle client cash flow activity within the proprietary trading system.
- Ensuring that all procedures are adhered to during the liquidation of funds and outlining the necessary actions the team must complete prior to distributing any liquidation payments to investors.
- Ensure administrative tasks are completed timely and records are updated accordingly.
- Make sure the team's processes and procedures are followed, and that oversight and controls are properly maintained.
- Oversight of Transfer Agent/Administrator operations and implementation of quality control measures. Collaborate with third-party vendors to promote transparency between BlackRock and external partners, ensuring an exceptional client experience. Participate in Transfer Agent calls, actively listen, and hold third parties accountable for outstanding action items.
Requirements
- 1-7 years' experience in a dynamic, deadline orientated, operational/ client service role
- High attention to detail, ability to focus and take ownership of tasks until completion
- The successful applicant will be self-motivated, proactive and able to change directions quickly
- Software skills shall include a strong background in Word and Excel and an aptitude for working within proprietary databases.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, at all levels
- Ability to manage his/ her own workload, multi-task, balance multiple and conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Able to grasp complex concepts and details quickly
