Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations : Reading, Havant and GlasgowSalary: £58,100 - £87,100 + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | options availableThe roleAs a Senior Cloud Engineer (Security) you will both contribute to the managing the development and running of SSE's Cloud environment and also take a lead role in ensuring the security of the technical components that comprise SSE's Cloud environment. This includes being a point of contact for the team for security topics and as a product owner for cloud related security tools.You will

  • Work with business stakeholders throughout the whole cloud lifecycle, providing comprehensive support to transform and modernise their application portfolios.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and bridge between the cloud team and stakeholders, and so must be able to provide regular progress updates and flag any issues as appropriate.
  • Be a point of contact for the Cloud team for the central IT Security functions, helping to address queries and providing technical insight into the Cloud Platform
  • Ensure all architecture and Cloud infrastructure accommodates the latest security and software lifecycle patterns.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and development for the immediate team and act as an evangelist within the organisation for engineering practices

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with prominent cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and awareness of relevant security considerations and tooling.
  • Experience working with Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) or Cloud Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPP) products such as Wiz
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems (Windows and/or Linux) and/or Kubernetes is desirable, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and the ability to write software scripts in at least one general-purpose programming-language (Python, Go, Java) or experience scripting with Bash or PowerShell.
  • Strong communication skills to be able to collaborate with teams across the organisation to help support SSE's cloud adoption.
