Job description

As a Technical Analyst, you will manage our capital pipelines, analyse project affordability, track performance, managing unit costs, and ensuring our projects deliver real value for customers and meet regulatory expectations. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to monitor and coordinate our capital programmes to keep our investment strategy on track-all while helping drive the transition to a net zero future. Key Responsibilities As a technical analyst you will own a workstream within our capital programme from inception to completion, the successful candidate will be accountable for: Monitoring and coordinating a capital workstream from budget setting, through design and delivery all the way to project closure. Supporting workstream and project alignment with strategic business objectives. Maintain project governance to ensure efficient and timely delivery of capital programmes. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders making sure they have visibility of the workstream targets Undertake both up-front and retrospective appraisal of projects, their deliverables and unit costs to ensure efficient, value-for-money design and delivery. Support the production of routine regulatory returns, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business and regulatory expectations. Develop and maintain bespoke Power BI reports and dashboards to enhance insight and decision-making. Support the continual improvement of capital delivery and routine assurance routines to maintain visibility and confidence in workstream performance. Management of change requests to the investment plan to ensure our annual performance remains balanced and delivers our overall business objectives. Contribute to wider BHE projects, providing expert input on Engineering Directorate requirements and priorities.

Requirements

Qualifications and Attributes Essential Qualifications and Experience Degree qualified, or a level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC) with a minimum of five years relevant experience Proficient in the use of Excel or equivalent tools to source and interpret data from a variety of sources and produce reports Experience managing projects or programmes of work Experience in dealing with complex economic/analytical projects Desirable Qualifications and Experience Degree in mathematics, accounting and finance, business, economics, engineering Project management qualifications Experience of working in the electricity industry or a related regulated utility Experience of producing regulatory returns Knowledge of UK energy regulation Experience in using SQL and databases and manipulating data using tools like Excel, Oracle Analytics, Power BI or equivalent
