Database Engineer, Sybase/MSSQL

The Database Engineering team in Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is responsible for the design of database products and integrating them with other infrastructure services such as hosting, storage, backup and monitoring. You will maintain standard builds, implement controls and tools and devise strategies to meet the business requirements of application teams using MSSQL and Sybase. You will also act as the global escalation point for critical Sybase/MSSQL incidents and platform issues., We are hiring a Senior Engineer reporting to the Head of Database Engineering to deliver infrastructure engineering solutions., * Design and evolve the Sybase/MSSQL platform with a focus on performance, resilience, automation, and compliance

• Deliver production-grade solutions in scripting, automation, and platform tooling

• Serve as product owner for Sybase/MSSQL, responsible for roadmap, lifecycle, and control posture

• Lead technical execution across multiple teams and regions with minimal oversight

• Collaborate with application and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure solutions

• Provide architectural and technical leadership across enterprise-wide programs involving Sybase and MSSQL

Your skills and experience

• Experience in enterprise-scale database engineering on Windows and Linux
• Mastery of Sybase and MSSQL products including internals, HA and DR architecture, performance tuning, replication, and upgrade strategies
• Strong skills in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, C#, Powershell and SQL; Jenkins, Ansible, and git are advantageous
• Deep understanding of systems infrastructure and integration across OS, storage, networking, and virtualization
• Strong communication skills, including ability to influence senior stakeholders across technical and business domains
