Job description
The role of the Specification Engineer is to provide engineering expertise to the Aftermarket (AM) Business with a focus on BOM Creation, supporting Sales, Tendering, Operations, Sales, and Field Service activities globally.
To work as a member of the AM Specification Team to produce manufacturing BOM's and purchase specifications for pump assembly manufacture, pump parts manufacture and service center overhauls etc., * Creating BOM's (Bill of Materials)
- Providing technical support to Tendering, Purchasing and Operations on an hourly to daily time frame
- Investigating customer complaints on an hourly to daily time frame
- Customers e.g., Information requests
- Tendering e.g., advising on correct Material Masters
- Operations e.g., answering technical queries
- Purchasing e.g., answering technical queries
- Quality e.g., requesting quality plans
- Service Centers e.g., specification of parts for overhaul
- Warranty - specification of parts for warranty
- Projects - attending project meetings
- Stock - answering stock related queries, * Completion of Manufacturing BOM's and Purchase Specifications for spares and overhaul orders using the Company SAP system
- Answering technical queries, post specification, from Internal Customers such as Purchasing and Operations
- Compiling and issuing Engineering Change Notes (ECN's)
- Answering customer complaint queries
- Participating in Departmental continuous improvement activities
KEY DELIVERABLES/PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Completion of fully specified jobs in line with Departmental KPI's i.e., quality and turn-around time targets
- Timely response to questions from internal customers
- All work to be of a high-quality standard

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes - complete pump assemblies and pump parts
- A high level of knowledge on the full range of Company products and brands (or the ability to acquire)
- Working knowledge of pump material specifications
- A high level of knowledge on Company Business systems e.g., SAP
- A high level of knowledge on historical Company job records and processes
- Medium to high level of experience or alternatively a trainee with the ability to learn quickly. Ideally a blend of practical and office (computer) based experience.
- ONC or HNC in a relevant subject e.g., Mechanical Engineering ideally complemented with "hands on" qualifications e.g., Apprentice trained engineer.
