Job description

The Usability & Design department is responsible for usability engineering, user experience design, industrial and user interface design as well as frontend engineering of all Brainlab products.

You will join a team of Usability Engineers and collaborate closely with UX and Product Designers throughout the complete product life cycle, to ensure safe and high quality user experience of our medical devices.

Acting as a consultant and flexible team member for our product teams, you will support implementation of various usability evaluations from reviews to full blown, standard conform usability tests. You will help translate product requirements into concepts and designs for user interfaces. Additionally, you will be responsible for use-related risk management within your projects.

As (Advanced) Usability Engineer your responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct usability evaluations and use-related risk management
  • Apply whole bandwidth of usability methodologies
  • Guide and support product development teams regarding all usability activities
  • User research and user requirements engineering
  • Translate product requirements into product concepts in collaboration with UX design
  • Monitor the usability engineering process within product development as required by related national and international norms and standards (e.g. IEC 62366)
  • Exchange with other usability engineers across different areas to ensure consistent interaction

Requirements

Do you have experience in Usability?, * University degree, ideally in Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology or Interaction Design or with related specialization

  • Min. 2 years of experience in usability engineering or solid knowledge about usability engineering
  • Strong communication and mediation skills
  • High self-sufficiency and ability to juggle multiple projects in parallel
  • Willingness to integrate in changing multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 15% of the working hours for usability tests (most likely in weekly blocks)
  • Openness to work outside regular office hours to conduct remote interviews & tests with e.g. US users
  • Proficiency in English and German

Preferred

  • Experience with usability standards for medical devices (e.g. IEC 62366)
  • Experience with risk management
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma)
