Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Power BI Developer to join our IS Reporting team here at Home Group. An expert in the platform, working with data and gathering stakeholder requirements, you'll implement Power BI data solutions that provide insights, drive accuracy, quality and consistency from every system and enable data-driven decision making by our colleagues.

An expert in data modelling, data warehousing concepts and data visualisation, you'll be our data champion, empowering colleagues through informative dashboards and reports, enabling them to self-serve quality data and analytics to complete their daily tasks effectively, using the data to deliver improved customer experiences.

What you'll do

  • Transforming a wide variety of complex data sources into clear and easy to digest reports and visual dashboards.
  • Provide faster and improved customer and business reporting through continuous improvement.
  • Engage with the right people across the business, to deliver the right results through collaboration and insights sharing.
  • Using your commercial and data insights to support business wide projects, as well as offering commentary on performance, identifying trends, root causes and propose recommendations and solutions to problems.
  • Using your relationships building and communication skills to talk to both technical and non-technical colleagues alike. Using your skills to help you to understand our business processes and translate these into the right requirements.
  • Monitoring data quality, resolving anomalies, and identifying trends and relationships, that provide better reporting and drive improvements in business operations.

Requirements

  • You're a Microsoft Power BI and SQL guru with expert experience of using Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, T-SQL and Office 365. It would be awesome if you have experience of Power Apps and Power Automate as well, but those aren't deal breakers.
  • A talent for designing and delivering easily understandable and accessible reporting tailored to the audience and your stakeholder's objectives.
  • An excellent understanding of relational databases, data structures and relationships, and a good understanding of data manipulation and modelling in line with the Kimball methodology.
  • A proficiency in cleansing, transforming and enhancing data, structuring it to deliver high quality data models to support optimal reporting through Power BI as well as ad-hoc analysis.

  • You'll work Monday to Friday, flexible working hours (we're open to agreeing a work pattern with you). If you need a break to take delivery of your new fridge or take a longer lunch for a haircut, you can use your flexi time to manage that.

  • Hybrid working, from home and two days a week from our office in Newcastle City Centre.
