Job description
We are seeking a Full stack Developer to lead the development of data-rich web applications. You will be responsible for building high-performance frontends using React and Vite, and architecting scalable, secure backend services using the Azure ecosystem.
A significant portion of this role involves data visualisation and cloud-native backend design. You should be comfortable working with serverless architectures (Azure Functions) and managing complex relational data in Azure SQL.
Technical Stack
- Frontend: React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Recharts, HTML5.
- Backend: Azure Functions (Serverless), Azure API Management (APIM).
- Database: Azure SQL (Relational).
- Hosting/Infrastructure: Azure Static Web Apps ($web), Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions.
- Security: Azure Identity (Entra ID/OAuth), API Security, * Frontend Excellence: Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces using React and Vite.
- Data Visualization: Use Recharts to transform complex datasets into intuitive, interactive dashboards and charts.
- Serverless Backend: Design and deploy event-driven logic using Azure Function Apps to handle business processes and data manipulation.
- API Orchestration: Manage, version, and secure our API layer using Azure API Management (APIM).
- Database Design: Architect and optimize Azure SQL schemas, ensuring performant queries and data integrity.
- Security Integration: Implement robust security measures, including authentication and authorization (OAuth2, OpenID Connect) and secure handling of secrets.
- Styling: Build clean, maintainable, and modern UI components using Tailwind CSS.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in TypeScript?, * React Specialist: Deep understanding of React hooks, state management, and the Vite build tool.
- Azure Cloud Native: Proven experience with the Azure ecosystem, specifically deploying to Static Web Apps and managing Function Apps.
- API Management: Experience configuring Azure APIM policies (rate limiting, caching, transformation).
- SQL Proficiency: Strong experience writing and optimizing T-SQL and managing relational databases.
- Modern CSS: Mastery of Tailwind CSS for rapid UI development without sacrificing design quality.
- Infrastructure as Code: Familiarity with deploying Azure resources (via Bicep, Terraform, or the Azure Portal).
- Experience with TypeScript (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of Azure Monitor and Application Insights for performance tracking.
- Experience in [Industry, e.g., Finance/Manufacturing] where data security is paramount.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments to Azure.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to look at raw data and determine the best way to visualize it for the end user.
- Security-First Thinking: A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential vulnerabilities in the cloud.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in an Agile environment and communicating technical constraints to stakeholders.

Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
Place of Work: Hybrid - a minimum of 2 days in Daventry office.
Pre-employment Checks: Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated referees, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
