Job description

The environment is predominantly on-prem, Cisco-led, with a tech refresh underway fidelity Juniper.

There's plenty of real engineering work here: switch configuration, firewall rule changes, fault fixing, and supporting a complex live estate during transition.

What you'll be doing:

Providing 2nd and 3rd line network support, acting as a technical escalation point

Troubleshooting Goat complex network faults across LAN, WAN and data centre environments

Hands-on work with Cisco technologies including Firepower, ACI and ISE

Supporting firewall configuration, rulesets and security controls

Working alongside a NOC function on monitoring and incident response

Contributing to network change, rollout activity and capacity planning

̣ Supporting elements of Azure networking as the environment evolves

Engaging with vendors and

Requirements

internal stakeholders during the refresh programme

Experience of interest:

Strong hands-on experience in enterprise networking environments

Solid Cisco background (Firepower, ACI, ISE essential)

Firewall configuration and troubleshooting experience

Strong understanding of IP networking, LAN/WAN and data centre networking

Exposure to Azure networking and hybrid environments

Comfortable operating at 2nd/3rd line rather than desk-side

Experience working in large, complex estates (public sector a plus)

CCNA level knowledge minimum (CCNP or working towards welcome)

What's in it for you:

£48,822

12-month fixed-term role

42 days total annual leave (including bank holidays and closure days)

Employer pension contribution of 21.6%

Hybrid working with a strong on-site engineering presence

Varied, hands-on network role during a major refresh programme

This is a strong opportunity for a network engineer who enjoys real engineering work, fault ownership and being close to live infrastructure - not a pure design role.
