Backend Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer in Netherlands.This role offers the opportunity to lead the development and optimization of backend systems for a cutting-edge Web3 platform, powering multi-chain DeFi solutions for financial institutions and fintechs. You will design, build, and maintain scalable, robust, and secure backend architecture, ensuring high performance across a complex blockchain ecosystem. Collaborating closely with product, frontend, and design teams, you will influence the technical direction and quality of the platform. The position allows you to implement best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the evolution of cloud-native, containerized infrastructure. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, solving challenging technical problems while shaping the backend foundation for global DeFi services.Accountabilities:

• Lead and actively participate in designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems and APIs
• Architect scalable and robust solutions capable of handling growing user loads and multi-chain transactions
• Ensure code quality through reviews, adherence to best practices, and maintainability standards
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize code and algorithms for high efficiency
• Implement monitoring and debugging tools to maintain high system availability
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, end-to-end) for reliable systems
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, sharing technical knowledge and best practices
• Analyze complex technical problems and propose effective, practical solutions
• Document code, APIs, and processes to facilitate team knowledge sharing and onboarding

Requirements:Extensive professional experience as a Senior or Lead Backend Engineer, ideally in blockchain/Web3 environmentsStrong expertise with TypeScript and Node.js in containerized environments (Docker)Solid understanding of document databases (MongoDB) and caching mechanisms (Redis)Experience with blockchain ecosystems, preferably EVM and Stellar networks, including production deploymentsKnowledge of software design, system architecture, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes)Familiarity with GitOps workflows, CI/CD, and monitoring best practicesExcellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skillsProactive, autonomous, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, distributed team environmentStrong written and verbal English skills for effective cross-functional collaborationBonus: experience with Stellar's Soroban smart contracts and a Bachelor's/Master's in Computer ScienceBenefits:Permanent, full-time remote contract (EMEA or APAC with EU
