Job description
The Senior Technology Architect (STA) - FinOps & Hybrid Cloud is responsible for architecting cost-efficient, scalable, secure, and highly automated hybrid cloud environments across public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure. The role leads cloud financial operations (FinOps) strategy, drives cost optimization at scale, and ensures platform architectures align with governance, performance, and business outcomes. This architect serves as the technical authority for hybrid cloud platforms, multi-cloud governance, cost management, and operational excellence, partnering with product, engineering, finance, procurement, and CxO stakeholders., 1. Hybrid Cloud Architecture & Strategy
- Define hybrid and multi-cloud target state architecture spanning public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises data centers.
- Lead design for networking, identity, storage, compute, automation, security, and observability across hybrid cloud platforms.
- Architect cloud landing zones, guardrails, and shared services to support secure, scalable, multi-tenant operations.
- Evaluate cloud/hybrid platforms (VMware, Anthos, OpenShift, Azure Arc, AWS Outposts, GCP Distributed Cloud) and define adoption patterns.
- Ensure architectural decisions achieve performance, resilience, cost efficiency, and vendor-agnostic portability.
- FinOps Leadership & Cloud Cost Optimization
- Own FinOps strategy, governance, and cultural adoption across engineering and operations teams.
- Implement FinOps capabilities:
- Cost allocation & chargeback/showback
- Budgets, forecasting, unit economics
- Tagging & metadata standards
- Discount strategy (Committed Use Discounts, RIs, Savings Plans)
- Cloud cost anomaly detection and reporting
- Develop cost-efficient architectures including right-sizing, autoscaling, egress optimization, and storage lifecycle policies.
- Establish and lead the Cloud Cost Review Board with finance, procurement, and cloud operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
- Advise CxOs, finance leaders, and program directors on cloud cost models, ROI/TCO, and hybrid cloud strategy.
- Translate complex technical decisions into business-aligned outcomes and executive-ready narratives.
- Lead architecture review boards, govern standards, and coach engineering teams on FinOps best practices.
Requirements
FinOps Expertise
- Deep knowledge of FinOps principles (Inform, Optimize, Operate).
- Proficiency with cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Apptio, Flexera, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Billing, and Azure Cost Management.
- Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, unit economics, discount programs, and workload optimization.
Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Architecture
- Strong background in hybrid cloud frameworks and platforms: VMware, Anthos, Azure Arc, OpenShift, AWS Outposts, etc.
- Experience designing and optimizing workloads across AWS, GCP, Azure.
- Strong understanding of identity, networking, security, storage, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
Governance & Security
- Knowledge of Zero Trust principles, cloud IAM, secrets management, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience integrating FinOps governance with cloud security controls.
Soft Skills
- Strong storytelling, executive communication, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams across architecture, engineering, finance, and operations.
- Demonstrated leadership in global transformation programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional.
- Cloud architecture certifications (AWS SA-Pro, GCP PCA, Azure Architect Expert).
- Experience in large-scale enterprise cloud modernization programs.
- Background in cost modelling, financial analysis, or economics is a plus.
