Job description
We're looking for an Implementation Lead to join the SPEN Centre of Excellence, working at the heart of the Mobility & GIS Value Stream. This role plays a key part in shaping how GIS and Mobility processes, systems and technologies are delivered across the business. You'll work closely with teams spanning Customer Management, Regulatory & Key Systems, Work & Asset Management, Data & Analytics, Transmission and SMART & Network Visibility, ensuring that solutions are designed, implemented and embedded effectively. What You'll Be Doing As Implementation Lead, you will guide the delivery of critical business processes and functional change, helping to define and maintain the detailed requirements that ensure GIS and Mobility solutions operate as intended. You'll take responsibility for engaging teams across SPEN, securing input and buy-in, and leading the implementation of new processes and system enhancements. The role involves continual refinement of information requirements, developing innovative methodologies, and coordinating internal and external resources to deliver key objectives and project outcomes. You will play an influential role in significant IT and business change initiatives linked to RIIO2/3 output drivers and efficiencies. This includes maintaining and improving data management systems, supporting the review and development of software and spatial data standards, and contributing to the Enterprise Architect model for SPEN's processes and systems. You'll work closely with Application Consultants and Architects to shape robust technical solutions, ensuring that all system changes-from minor enhancements to major programmes-are evaluated, tested and controlled effectively. A key part of the role includes devising and executing testing strategies, analysing data quality and reporting accuracy, and keeping training materials aligned to system developments. The Implementation Lead contributes to the delivery of a £20-30m annual capex programme within the Value Stream. You'll take ownership of implementation phases, manage stakeholders and resources, oversee planning activity and coordinate with internal and external parties. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll help ensure that projects progress efficiently and that changes deliver measurable business value. You will also bring the capability to translate data into actionable management information, develop solutions to complex challenges, and convert business needs into effective visual and functional outputs. Strong knowledge of standard IT applications-such as web mapping, analytical programming and data-layer management-is important, as is an understanding of SPEN's corporate data landscape.
Requirements
This role requires the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels, influencing senior stakeholders and working collaboratively across SPEN and the wider Global Networks Business. You'll support long-term stewardship of SPEN's processes and systems, monitor project expenditure, ensure quality assurance across deliverables and manage risk throughout the project lifecycle. Interaction with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders is a key part of the role, including CoE teams, sponsors, product owners, SMEs, corporate functions and external vendors. While experience in agile delivery environments is beneficial, the essential criteria include experience in managing functional change initiatives, strong stakeholder management skills, an understanding of data governance and controls, knowledge of the regulatory environment SPEN operates within, and the ability to travel across the organisation's geographical areas. What You'll Bring Success in this role requires the ability to bring together business requirements and translate them into technology-driven change plans. Experience of enterprise systems is desirable, along with exposure to GIS and Mobility tools such as Salesforce Field Service.
