Job description
We're working with an early-stage, venture-backed infrastructure startup building a radically more efficient approach to cloud storage. Their platform enables data teams to reduce storage costs by up to 90% by transforming object storage into high-performance, locally accessible file systems - eliminating costly data movement for AI training, analytics, genomics, and financial workloads., * Design and implement novel storage capabilities that push the boundaries of cloud-based file systems.
- Architect distributed systems interactions with strong guarantees around atomicity, idempotency, and correctness.
- Deploy and generalize infrastructure across multiple cloud providers.
- Own production reliability, including debugging complex cross-system issues using logs and metrics.
- Operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments driven by evolving customer needs.
- Contribute meaningfully to architectural and product-level decisions.
Requirements
- 2-6 years of experience building and operating distributed systems in production environments.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure (e.g., databases, storage engines, or core services) - not just applications that consume them.
- Professional experience in at least one low-level or systems language (C, C++, Rust, Go, OCaml).
- Strong foundation in distributed systems concepts (e.g., consensus, scaling challenges, API pitfalls).
- Proven debugging ability across multiple systems and services.
- Experience with on-call rotations for complex production systems.
- Background in startup or hyper-growth environments and/or top-tier large technology companies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (top-tier academic background advantageous).
- Strong communication skills and comfort navigating ambiguity.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity about storage systems and the technical challenges this model presents.
