Job description
We're looking for a Data Platform Lead to drive the evolution of our data platform and lead a high-performing team of data engineers. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, Engineering & Data, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our data platform to support critical business functions across the enterprise.
This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic platform development, ensuring our data infrastructure grows with the business while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and performance., * Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Drive adoption of best practices in data engineering and data analytics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Establish technical standards and architectural guidelines for the data platform.
- Develop comprehensive data modelling frameworks and governance protocols.
- Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks.
- Balance competing stakeholder expectations while maintaining platform roadmap focus.
- Manage platform capacity planning and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Champion data quality initiatives and automated testing frameworks.
- Understand batch and streaming data ingestion patterns.
- Deliver projects across complex technical initiatives with strong project planning and execution skills.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, * Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years' experience in data platform development and big data technologies.
- Hands-on experience with PySpark and SQL.
- Deep experience with Databricks on AWS/Azure cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of medallion architecture and modern data Lakehouse patterns.
- Expertise in data modelling and governance frameworks for enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to deliver results in complex environments.
- Financial services experience is a plus.
