Job description
We are expanding our Digital Capability to support a portfolio of business-critical Digital Channels programmes. This permanent role will augment multidisciplinary teams delivering high-impact digital services and may support work across multiple products and service areas.
You will contribute to services currently in Alpha, Private Beta, and Live phases, helping design intuitive, accessible, and visually consistent user experiences.
Key Programmes You May Support * Report a Change Once (RACO): A cross-government service enabling users to report changes once across multiple benefits, improving efficiency, reducing fraud and error, and ensuring timely outcomes. The service is currently in Alpha and progressing toward Private Beta and MVP release. * Customer Account: A live digital service allowing users to access proof of benefit letters online, reducing call volumes and postal demand while improving customer experience. * Government App & Wallet: Supporting the integration of services into the government app and wallet, including delivery of secure digital credentials such as proof of benefit.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Interaction Designer / Graphic Designer to design clear, accessible, and engaging user experiences across complex public sector services.
You will work closely with user researchers, content designers, developers, and product managers to create intuitive interfaces, service journeys, and visual assets that meet user needs and comply with GDS standards.
Requirements
Proven experience as an Interaction Designer and/or Graphic Designer on digital products * Strong understanding of user-centred design principles * Experience designing accessible interfaces (WCAG standards) * Ability to communicate and justify design decisions clearly * Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary teams * Strong skills using design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma or similar)
Desirable * Experience working on public sector or GDS-aligned services * Familiarity with design systems and service patterns * Experience contributing to live or large-scale digital services
