Job description
In this role, you will take full engineering ownership of secure infrastructure environments, designing, implementing, and maintaining network, storage, and Windows Server platforms that support critical defence operations. You will manage your own workload under project guidance, ensuring solutions are delivered to the highest standards of performance, resilience, and security.
You will proactively monitor and optimise infrastructure, resolve complex technical issues, and drive continuous improvement across network and storage systems. Working closely with stakeholders, you will ensure compliance with security policies while delivering robust, scalable solutions that safeguard data integrity and availability.
Design & Implement complex LAN, WAN, and cloud-based network architectures
Configure & Secure firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and access controls
Monitor & Optimise network performance, availability, and security
Manage & Maintain SAN, NAS, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
Administer & Support Windows Server environments, including AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Protect & Govern data through patch management, updates, and security compliance
Requirements
To succeed, you will bring strong hands-on experience across secure network, storage, and Windows Server environments within defence or highly regulated settings. You will demonstrate the ability to take technical ownership, manage competing priorities, and deliver resilient infrastructure solutions aligned to strict security standards.
You must hold Higher Level Clearance and be willing to undergo HLC
Proven experience designing and managing LAN, WAN, and secure network architectures
Strong expertise in firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and network security
Hands-on experience with SAN, NAS, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
Strong Windows Server administration skills (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
Experience with patch management, system upgrades, and access control governance
Ability to manage workload independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you must hold Higher Level Clearance and be willing to undergo further clearance. This is a hybrid position based in Leatherhead, with 3-4 days per week onsite.
