Junior Design Engineer

The Draughtsman will work on a variety of bespoke customer orders that will be designed using Solidworks. Manufacturing and Profile drawings will be created to make the designs.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake research and development projects, as well as continuously improving existing products, and tailoring design solutions to individual customer specifications. They will have the opportunity to follow projects all the way through from initial design to full manufacture, supporting the project at every stage., * Designing basic bespoke Fabrications, Machined Components in a wide range of materials and industries.

• Creation and maintenance of Solid works 3D CAD models
• Drawing technical assembly drawings
• Value engineering and re-engineering of products
• Working to KPI's to reduce scrap and improve utilization.
• Research and development of new products
• Creation of full material cutting lists and components to issue to production from 3D models created
• Technical support and guidance on drawings for production team leaders
• Issuing of drawings to customers for sign off/approval and make amendments where necessary
• Occasional site visits to carry out measurements for installation projects for in house manufacture
• Creation of laser cutting programs for production (training would be provided)

Do you have experience in SolidWorks?, * Competent draughtsman with 3+ years' experience in a similar role

• Strong technical and engineering background with the ability to resolve creative and technical problems for customers and production staff
• Solidworks 3D experience (3+ years)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident at communicating at all levels and with customers
• Self-motivated and reliable
• Numerate and accurate with a strong attention to detail
• Good general knowledge of manufacturing techniques for fabrication and sheet metal
