Job description
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Senior Document Controller to join thier Power T&D business in Aberdeen.
Role Purpose
Responsible for establishing governance and assuring data and information flow.
Support the Common Data Environment for several projects, ensuring all project information is available and up to date.
Ensure smooth data and information flow between Balfour Beatty and client CDEs.
Provide project-related training, support, and guidance on using BIM 360/ACC to the project engineering team, including subcontractors, the client, and operations.
As a line manager, the Senior Document Controller supervises and mentors document controllers. They conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. What you'll be doing
Accountabilities

Work to the Project Information Plan and Asset Information Plan set out at project start-up (IM will be identified at this stage).

Assist with the set-up of projects in BIM 360 NextGen/ACC (folders, user rights, workflows).

Assist the Document Control Manager with the roll-out of ACC to newly identified projects and complete support training and visits.

Assist Project Team Members in assembling information for Project Outputs.

Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment.

Enable integration and coordination of information within the Information Model.

Accept or reject information exchanges within the common data environment.

Assure delivery of information exchanges.

Ensure compliance with agreed processes and procedures; validate compliance with information requirements and advise on non-compliance.

Promote envisioning, influencing, and aligning followers to ACC Strategic vision, and ensure execution of ACC project goals.
Line Manager Accountabilities

Resource allocation, manage and allocate resources effectively to ensure the document control team meets project demands and deadlines.

Performance monitoring, regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of the document control team, providing feedback and implementing improvement plans as necessary.

Team development, foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the document control team, encouraging skill enhancement and career growth.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Team management?, The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Background and understanding of a variety of engineering projects and processes.
- Understands and has experience working with Document Control/Management
- Strong Leadership Skills, ability to inspire and motivate team members, set clear goals, and lead by example. Previous experience in successfully managing a team and handling conflicts.
- Effective Communication, excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey expectations and provide feedback. Experience in roles requiring regular communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making. Ability to quickly identify issues and make informed decisions. Demonstrated experience in managing challenging situations and implementing solutions.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience using BIM 360 Docs/ACC
- Experience and understanding of site based Operational business processes and practices.
- knowledge of Engineering applications and their associated data structures
- An awareness of the Utilities / Power / Construction industry.
- A working knowledge of an Engineering Drawing Office, Design Office and document control processes
- A working knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools, processes and practices
- Awareness and knowledge of BS1192 / ISO19650
