Job description
Digital Farming provides actionable and field-specific advice to farmers, advisors and business partners worldwide for our xarvio products. For this, we build digital solutions for crop management for the xarvio FieldManager, xarvio HealthyFields, ONE SmartSpray and Horta.
- In your new role, you develop, improve and deploy machine learning models that drive agronomic decisions with a particular focus on modelling weed growth in rice (Japan) and other key crops (South and North America).
- Based in Cologne, you explore and support new or improved model architectures and feature developments to improve ML capabilities and are responsible for implementation.
- Furthermore, you actively monitor and ensure model performance during season and recommend adaptations.
- In regular exchange with experts, including digital agronomists, agronomic modelers and other machine learning engineers you continuously improve the models according to market feedback.
- You embed models into decision support systems for weed management and enhance field specific decision logics for farmers & advisors.
- Additionally, you interact with other technical teams within xarvio to implement and maintain endpoints.
- Last but not least, you define data needs for model development and validation trials.
Requirements
- relevant university degree in computer science or related subject and proven professional track record
- proficiency in Python, writing clean and efficient code
- experience with ML libraries and frameworks such as sci-kit learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch or XGBoost
- familiarity with CI/CD for ML workflows, Docker and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- fluent English, good German would be an advantage
- structured, solution-oriented working style with strong analytical skills
