Cloud Operations (CLO) is a vital component within the Siemens Grid Software R&D Organization, a global leader driving the digital transformation of industries with our comprehensive portfolio of digital technologies. Within Cloud Operations, we are committed to continually improving the services offered to our customers. As a result, we are looking for a Senior Cloud Architect to join our team.
As a Senior Cloud Architect, your responsibilities will include partnering with business-focused development teams to design cloud solutions, primarily within AWS. You will be challenged to find approaches that enable rapid adoption of new cloud services, drive transformation, and transform IT. This role takes accountability for ensuring high-quality delivery output within the R&D Cloud Operations business and provides support for pre-sales technical activities as well as engagement with customers.
This role also includes responsibility for overseeing DevOps engineers, junior cloud architects, and test automation engineers, acting as an interface and key delegation point both internally and across the wider engineering practice., + Design and implementation of cloud and hybrid infrastructure: As a Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you will design and implement state-of-the-art cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions aligned with our business goals and requirements.
- Continuous optimization: Drive ongoing improvements in the performance, stability, and responsiveness of our cloud environment, ensuring it evolves in line with the latest technologies and best practices.
- Best-practice cloud operations: Champion world-class cloud operations by integrating Siemens' code of practice and ensuring all competency centers adhere to standardized cloud protocols.
- Service security and vulnerability management: Design secure services and ensure consistent adherence to security and vulnerability standards across all operational functions.
- System architecture oversight: Lead system architecture from project inception through delivery, developing both high-level and detailed designs across applications, infrastructure, and networks.
- Supporting the technical roadmap
- Supervise technical architectural and engineering resources within projects, ensuring alignment with our strategic roadmap.
- Ensuring solution and architectural quality
- Conduct quality reviews of automation scripts and tools to ensure compliance with DevOps best practices.
- Partner with project and program managers to drive solution delivery, providing technical leadership, guidance, and direction to project teams. Act as the primary interface to the business to ensure successful solution adoption.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Terraform?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, + You hold a university degree, ideally in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related field, along with extensive professional experience. Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant professional experience will also be considered., + Comprehensive knowledge of software analysis and design methodologies, particularly for AWS cloud solutions, along with a strong understanding of architectural and design patterns for solving complex challenges.
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift, including deploying, configuring, and operating containerized workloads in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud infrastructure (e.g., Terraform), networks, and databases in compliance with security policies.
- Deep expertise in AWS services and their practical application, including certification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
- Strong experience implementing cloud security best practices.
- Extensive experience in enterprise architecture definition, solution design, and deployment.
- Solid knowledge of REST APIs, API security, OAuth, SSO, microservices, and micro front-end architectures.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD, automation, and configuration management.
- Programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Bash, Go, Java, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and both relational and NoSQL databases.
