Job description

You'll be working within a small team of two, reporting directly to the Head of Software, contributing to the development and maintenance of a growing suite of PC and embedded applications used globally to calibrate and maintain precision measurement equipment. This is a hands-on role with genuine ownership. You'll be expected to work with a degree of autonomy, bring ideas to the table, and collaborate closely with colleagues across engineering disciplines in an open-plan environment., * Developing and maintaining C++ applications across PC and embedded platforms

  • Building new software modules and contributing to the full development lifecycle
  • Writing and managing automated tests
  • Managing source control systems
  • Working on projects that ship to global customers worldwide

Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong C++ skills (C++17 and object-oriented design)
  • A degree in Mathematics, Physics or a related technical discipline
  • 1-2 years of post-university software development experience (or a strong graduate with demonstrable C++ knowledge)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to thrive in a small, multi-disciplinary team

Beneficial (not essential - training available):

  • Experience with MFC or Qt frameworks
  • Familiarity with OpenCV or image processing
  • Knowledge of Boost or STL
