Job description
As a Databricks Solution Architect you will design holistic data solutions that leverage Databricks best practices in alignment with business and technical requirements. This role acts as a linking pin between business stakeholders, platform engineers, and data practitioners, ensuring robust, scalable, and cost-effective architectures. How do you do this?
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical requirements.
- Design end-to-end data solutions leveraging deep understanding of Databricks, including data ingestion, processing, storage, and analytics.
- Establish architectural patterns and best practices for Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and medallion architectures.
- Design integration solutions with external systems (cloud-native data services, visualization tools, etc.).
- Ensure security, governance, and compliance requirements are incorporated in solution.
- Perform technical reviews, provide guidance on performance optimization, scalability, and cost management.
- Support technical pre-sales and contribute to proposal development as required.
- Be an expert, leader, and trusted advisor for clients and colleagues on Databricks.
- Play a central role in the implementation of Databricks solutions, and provide guidance & mentorship to more junior Deloitte Databricks engineers.
- Be a thought leader in the Databricks space and drive new use-cases for Databricks' latest features, such as Agent Bricks, Genie and Lakebase.
Requirements

With your personal strengths, view of the world, and unique personality. You need the following qualifications for the position of Databricks Solution Architect:
- A technical master's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Physics, or a related field;
- At least 8 years of work experience designing data architectures in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP); consulting experience is a plus;
- Proven experience with Databricks and its integration with other cloud services;
- Proven experience in leading medium- to large sized teams on complex Databricks deliveries;
- In-depth knowledge of data platform security, governance, and compliance frameworks;
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
- Familiarity with data modelling, data warehousing, and advanced analytics concepts;
- Relevant Databricks, Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud certificates are advantageous;
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch is desirable.
