Microsoft Fabric Specialist/SME/Solution Engineer - Outside IR35 - Hybrid 50/50
Build, configure, and optimise Fabric pipelines, Lakehouse structures, and datasets.
Produce production-ready semantic models and data layers.
Deliver engineering documentation, diagrams, and operational materials.
Validate partner-delivered technical artefacts and provide improvement recommendations.
Implement governance and security configurations across OneLake and Purview.
Support self-service analytics by creating foundational data products and templates.
Stay current with Fabric feature releases and introduce improvements into delivery processes.
Scope of services successfully transitioned to third party provider and knowledge transfer complete.
Experience & Skills Requirements
Practical hands-on experience delivering Microsoft Fabric solutions in financial or consulting environments.
Strong engineering background with expertise in data pipelines, transformations, Lakehouse, and modelling.
Deep knowledge of Medallion architecture, Lakehouse patterns, and data dimensional modelling.
Skilled in DAX, T-SQL, Python, PowerShell, and data engineering frameworks.
Experience with Power BI dataset optimisation, DirectLake, performance tuning, and reporting.
Proficiency with Azure Data Services, Synapse Analytics, and Real Time/streaming technologies.
Strong understanding of Purview governance, security, classifications, and access control.
Experience with CI/CD, source control (Git), and DevOps processes.
Ability to interpret business requirements and deliver scalable engineering solutions.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
Familiarity with ERP/CRM integration patterns.
Fabric certifications (DP-700 or equivalent).
Exposure to AI/ML enablement within analytics platforms.
Experience working in multi-vendor delivery environments.
Background in enterprise-scale transformation programmes.
