Job description
This is a pivotal role designed to establish and coordinate consistent data collection for metastatic breast cancer across Wales. You will work with clinical and operational teams within Health Boards and Cancer Centres to understand current processes, initiate new data-gathering activity, and support Wales's contribution to the National Audit of Metastatic Breast Cancer.
The work you do will form the foundation of national reporting, future service improvements and the integration of metastatic data collection into routine practice., * Understand existing data collection processes across breast cancer services in Wales.
- Initiate and coordinate data collection at Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) and other relevant touchpoints for metastatic breast cancer.
- Support Health Boards to deliver data into the National Audit of Metastatic Breast Cancer -via National Audit of Metastatic Breast Cancer - National Cancer Audit Collaborating Centre
- Design and implement standardised processes and training for consistent data collection, working with oncologists, surgeons, CNSs and MDT coordinators.
- Compile and submit a final report detailing metastatic breast cancer numbers in Wales, including insights, lessons learned and future recommendations.
- Input historical data into relevant systems and prepare reports on the current metastatic data landscape at national and Health Board level.
- Support embedding long-term, sustainable data-collection processes.
- Explore opportunities to include immediate breast reconstruction data.
Requirements
Are you passionate about improving cancer services in Wales? Do you have a strong understanding of cancer data and experience working within healthcare settings?, The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- An understanding of cancer data collection in Wales.
- Experience collecting or managing data in an NHS setting (desirable).
- Experience working within healthcare in Wales and ideally being part of MDT sessions.
- Knowledge of cancer services and treatments, particularly breast cancer pathways.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with colleagues at all levels, including clinical teams.
- Experience using databases, spreadsheets and other digital systems.
- High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- The ability to manage priorities, and act both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to travel to various Health Boards across Wales.
