Job description

In our IT Product Digital Innovation Hub, we explore, validate, and scale emerging technologies that create measurable value in an industrial business context. Our approach is hands-on and outcome-driven, and we work closely with real production needs.

You love building real products, not just prototypes. You're confident in delivering AI/ML topics, and you're equally curious about trying out other emerging technologies in an industrial environment, such as: Mixed Reality, quantum / quantum-inspired approaches, blockchain/DLT, edge/IoT, digital twins, and more., * Deliver full-stack solutions from early experiments and MVPs to production-grade features--always tied to a business outcome.

  • Develop backend services with Python + FastAPI, and build modern UIs with React. A modern tooling experience is advantageous (e.g. Vite).
  • Use FastAPI's standards-based API approach and automatic OpenAPI documentation to accelerate integration and collaboration.
  • Apply solid engineering practices such as clean architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, and security by design.

Work across a multi-technology delivery toolkit (web, mobile, low-code)

  • Java: Contribute to or build services, integrations, or tooling where Java is the right fit (e.g. enterprise-grade components, interoperability and existing platforms).
  • Mobile development when the use case demands it (shopfloor/field use, offline, device capabilities):
  • Native apps with Swift (iOS) and Android (Kotlin/Java)
  • Cross-platform delivery with Flutter
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Rapidly build internal apps, workflows, and automations (Power Apps / Power Automate), and collaborate with business "citizen developers" to scale impact.

Explore and validate emerging technologies

  • Identify promising technologies and translate them into structured proof of concept (PoC) experiments with clear success criteria.
  • Prototype and evaluate solutions in areas such as:
  • Next-generation AI (e.g. copilots for internal users, grounded responses over enterprise knowledge, multimodal use cases and humanoid robots)
  • Mixed Reality for training, remote support, maintenance guidance and complex workflows
  • Quantum / quantum-inspired approaches for optimization-type problems (e.g. planning, scheduling, routing and parameter tuning)
  • Blockchain/DLT/Data Spaces for traceability, provenance, trusted data exchange and multi-party scenarios (only when it's the right tool)
  • Decide pragmatically what is worth scaling up and help to turn validated PoCs into reusable building blocks.

Integrate innovations into real industrial systems

  • Build solutions that work with real enterprise data and processes in the following contexts:
  • SAP HANA / ERP contexts (including standardized interfaces such as OData via SAP Gateway where applicable)
  • Custom MES workflows close to the shopfloor
  • Databricks as part of the data/analytics ecosystem (e.g. using curated lakehouse data and Delta tables)

User-oriented product development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and end users to understand their needs and pain points.
  • Translate insights into hypotheses, quick experiments, and iterative improvements.
  • Demonstrate early, learn quickly, and refine solutions based on feedback - so what we build gets adopted.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience shipping software as a Full-Stack Developer (or similar), with a strong product mindset.
  • Solid backend development skills in Python; experience with FastAPI (or similar) and building clean APIs is a plus.
  • Frontend experience with e.g. React; TypeScript and modern tooling (e.g. Vite) are welcome.
  • You can work with (or are excited to learn) additional technologies depending on the use case:
  • Java (backend/services/integration)
  • Mobile: Swift, Android (Kotlin/Java), or Flutter
  • Microsoft Power Platform for rapid internal solutions and automation
  • Practical hands-on experience delivering AI/ML into applications and curiosity to explore beyond AI (Mixed Reality, quantum/quantum-inspired, blockchain/DLT, etc.).
  • Ability to move fast in experiments while maintaining quality when scaling to production.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in interdisciplinary, industrial environments.
  • German and English language skills are mandatory.

For this position we offer a minimum payment of 63,000 EUR /year, plus social benefits and possible bonuses. Especially qualified and experienced candidates will be offered overpay.
