Software Engineer

OverviewFrom Evolito's mission to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace, we aim to support a net-zero world by revolutionising personal mobility and transforming towns and cities with clean, quiet air transportation. Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for aerospace markets including EVTOL, UAVs and General Aviation. In addition to high-performance motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in bespoke battery systems for aerospace and defence. The team is scaling rapidly with ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months. As part of our high-growth phase, we are looking for aSenior Test and Verification Engineerto support testing and verification of Evolito's motors, controllers and electric drive systems towards certification under RTCA DO-160G guidelines. ResponsibilitiesTake a leading role in Evolito's Environmental and Durability test areas, ensuring safe and effective operation of equipment to provide test data to aerospace standards in a timely and organised manner. Lead technical meetings with suppliers and customers. Own major test programmes end-to-end for internal and external customers and assist in planning V&V documentation to prepare. Breakdown electric drive system, sub-system and component requirements into structured test cases and procedures. Define and configure test schematics, equipment, instrumentation and data acquisition. Support the development and implementation of test system control software and data acquisition systems. Schedule test facilities and rigs for test programs and keep stakeholders informed. Ensure calibration of equipment and reliability of data for all measurements at sensor and test cell levels. Follow pre-test assessment processes to ensure test readiness across technical, operational and safety aspects. Instruct and supervise test set up and operation of technicians and engineers across performance and environmental test facilities. Manage tests conducted at external facilities where scope exceeds internal capability. Author and review test methodology and results in detailed reports for development and verification evidence, ensuring accuracy and traceability. Operate and develop Evolito's dynos, vibration/shaker, hygrothermal and HALT/HASS test cells for motor, controller and drive system development and verification. Create project-specific applications using Vector tools and NI packages for testing. Write internal test analysis scripts and provide technical approval of data analysis scripts. Ensure successful project management to deliver requirements, test equipment, tooling and hardware on time, and adhere to Design Organisation processes. Champion laboratory operations such as 6S, H&S and CoSHH documentation, training and maintenance. Coordinate projects and test facilities (RASIC or equivalent). Deliver delegated projects within scope, on time and within budget. Skills and experienceDegree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electronic Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience. Experience with HALT/HASS, accelerated life testing, dynamometers or vibration and laboratory equipment to set up and carry out tests. Experience testing motors, controllers or other powertrain systems. Experience working with high voltage systems up to 1500Vdc. Ability to use MATLAB, Python or NI tools to perform data analysis and create analysis scripts. Knowledge of test facilities operations and health & safety in potentially hazardous test environments.
