Job description
As a member of the HDDS platform you will be responsible for:
- supporting scientific projects with their complex data analysis tasks
- helping and advising researchers with integrating our software into their workflows and projects
- recruiting new users through systematic reach-out efforts
- integrating both with the HDDS, the Microscopy Innovation Platform, and the URPP AdaBD in general
- participating in writing scientific papers
- creating documentation materials, example datasets and tutorials for the software provided by the HDDS platform
- proposing and implementing useful extensions of the software utilizing third party tools and novel custom methods
- visiting conferences to present the HDDS software and approach
Requirements
Do you have experience in Time management?, Do you have a Master's degree?, The ideal candidate has a solid background in natural sciences, preferably neuroscience or adjacent fields and a very good theoretical and practical understanding of data science methods in the context of anatomical, functional, and behavioral data. Specifically:
- a master's degree or PhD in neuroscience, biomedicine, computer science, physics or adjacent fields
- excellent understanding of data analysis methods for anatomical and functional imaging data in a neuroscience context, particularly concerning multi-modal, high-dimensional and large data sets
- curiosity and experiment-driven mindset
- willingness to become an expert user of the HDDS software
- academic track record with published papers in established journals or conference proceedings
- excellent programming skills particularly in MATLAB; solid Python or Java knowledge
- ability to understand, work with, and possibly extend complex software architectures
- good time-management skills to support short (several months) or long (several years) project collaborations
- good communication skills
About the company
The High Dimensional Data Science (HDDS) platform is one of three platform projects of the University Research Priority Program Adaptive Brain Circuits in Development and Learning at the University of Zurich. The mission of the HDDS platform is to make high dimensional data science methods available within the AdaBD program and beyond. To that end, the HDDS develops and applies an open source data analysis platform tailored to behavioural, functional, anatomical, and other types of data. The HDDS platform provides consultancy, training, and support for DataDelv users from the University of Zurich and beyond.
