Job description

2fawcett Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Senior Design Engineer on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering client based in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with either a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background to join a forward-thinking organisation working on innovative engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical and electromechanical systems, with a particular focus on PCB layout and control panel design., * Design and develop electrical and electromechanical systems from concept through to production.

  • Produce and review PCB layouts ensuring compliance with design standards and performance requirements.
  • Design and develop control panels, including component selection, panel layout, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and design documentation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, and project management.
  • Ensure all designs meet relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Schematics?, * Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience in a design engineering role.
  • Strong experience with PCB layout and design.
  • Experience in control panel design and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with CAD/ECAD software.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, components, and integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working within manufacturing or industrial engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience taking designs from concept through to production.
