Job description
The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports that provide meaningful business insights. This role requires a deep understanding of data structures, data models, and business processes, combined with strong expertise in Power BI to deliver scalable, high-performance analytics solutions., Power BI Development & Reporting
- Build and manage robust data models within Power BI to support advanced analytics and reporting needs.
- Create complex DAX measures and calculations based on business KPIs and analytical requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights.
- Develop intuitive and user-friendly data visualizations aligned with business goals and design guidelines.
- Ensure Power BI solutions meet performance, scalability, and security standards.
- Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and relevant access controls for secure data consumption.
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of dashboards-from initial development to production deployment.
- Optimize dataset performance through tuning and efficient data modeling practices.
- Ensure consistent brand alignment across dashboards according to established design standards.
Data & Data Model Management
- Contribute to the design and refinement of curated reporting layers (gold layer) within Azure Synapse.
- Work with complex data models, including medallion architecture, transformation layers, and Power BI semantic models.
- Design and optimize data models using Parquet and Delta Lake formats to support performance and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers to define data transformation, cleansing, and preparation requirements.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop and execute structured test plans to validate report performance and accuracy.
- Perform data reconciliation to ensure consistency between source systems and Power BI outputs.
- Coordinate and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions with stakeholders.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Guide business users on best practices for self-service analytics within Power BI.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SharePoint?, * Strong proficiency in Power BI, including:
- Advanced data modelling
- DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
- Power Query (M)
- Report design and data visualization
- Development of custom visualizations
- Experience using parameters to support release management, especially when working with evolving or changing data sources.
- Deep understanding of data structures and modelling techniques, including star schema, snowflake schema, and hybrid data models.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, such as SQL Server and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Strong knowledge of data integration and ETL processes, including working with APIs and external data sources.
- Understanding of Row-Level Security (RLS) and other access control mechanisms within Power BI.
- Ability to work with large datasets, including performance optimization of reports, models, and queries.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks, such as DevOps, Scrum, or similar methodologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Logic Apps, and SharePoint.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities, ensuring alignment across both technical and business teams.
- Experience delivering analytical solutions within the manufacturing industry, with an understanding of sector-specific data and operational needs.
