Job description

An opportunity to join a superb IT company - based in Woking. They are seeking an IT Support Technician to work with the IT Infrastructure Manager to deliver best practices and influence for the direction of their IT and Hosted systems as well as responsibility of the day to day management of the environment.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years' experience in IT Support role
  • Highly motivated, positive, responsible, organised, quick learner and team player.
  • Industry recognised qualification or vocational training from a relevant provider e.g. Microsoft
  • Strong experience in Windows desktop/laptop support (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10), deploying, configuring, managing, troubleshooting
  • Strong experience in desktop/laptop application support (i.e. MS Office Products), deploying, configuring, managing, troubleshooting
  • Experience of computer (desktop/laptop) imaging, creating, modifying & deploying using technologies like WDS & MDT
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Active Directory and domain services i.e. DHCP, DNS, Group Policies, and Print Servers etc.
  • Experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 & 2012 i.e. administration tasks - installation, creating backup plans etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Exchange 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 i.e. creating and managing resources, basic troubleshooting etc.
  • Good awareness/working knowledge of network principals i.e. TCP/IP, ports, VLAN's etc.
  • Experience of managing firewalls, routers, switches and other network infrastructure

Desirable

  • Microsoft qualifications in relation to administration or networks (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP)
  • Knowledge of SANs (NextGen would be advantageous)
  • Knowledge and or experience of working with Watchguard Firewall products
  • Knowledge of Team Foundation Server and Sharepoint 2013

The successful IT Support Technician will be highly motivated team play with skills and ability to manage changing priorities. They will be able to take direction and perform and complete tasks with minimal direction from the Infrastructure manager. They will have an attention to detail and take pride in the work and tasks they undertake, ensuring the reputation of the infrastructure team is maintained to a high standard. They will be an excellent verbal communication skills and will be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues. The candidate will be ambitious to learn and looking to take their next step in their IT career.
