Job description
The Chief Security Office (CSO) plays a vital role in delivering Lloyds Banking Group's vision of putting customers at the heart of everything we do, helping Britain prosper, and protecting the Group and its customers and suppliers from security threats., * Design, develop, and maintain z/OS-based code and utilities that provide cryptographic services to integrate with enterprise security tooling.
- Write new code and enhancements to deliver cryptographic functionality, and review existing codebases to identify improvements, refactor legacy implementations, and address security, performance, or maintainability concerns.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues, performing cause analysis alongside application and infrastructure teams.
- Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to identify and implement best practices for supported services.
- Contribute to platform modernisation initiatives, including automation, tooling improvements, and integration with distributed and cloud-based services.
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce platform risk.

Requirements
- Good understanding of the IBM z/OS platform architecture and the use of standard ISPF tools and utilities via 3270.
- Experience of building applications, libraries and utilities from start to finish on z/OS platforms using programming languages such as REXX, s/390 assembler, COBOL, C and Java.
- Ideally, experience with core mainframe subsystems such as ICSF, RACF, CICS, DB2 and batch scheduling environments.
- An understanding of key lifecycle-management is a bonus.
- You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, and you will mentor junior colleagues in the design, implementation, and support of both strategic and legacy mainframe services.
- You will show the aptitude to acquire the skills and knowledge to run and coordinate the maintenance and support of critical mainframe platforms, tools, and operational processes.
