Senior Python / Rust Engineer- Hybrid role - Exciting new global cybersecurity business to Belfast. The Role: We're looking for a Senior Python /AI Developer who is passionate about building scalable, resilient software and excited to broaden into Rust (or bring Rust experience with them). You'll be designing and delivering high-performance services that underpin mission-critical encryption products, working across the full delivery lifecycle - from architecture through to deployment - in an Agile team where autonomy and ownership are encouraged. Key Responsibilities: Develop robust services in Pythonfor enterprise-scale distributed systems. * Apply best practices in OO design, refactoring, and scalable architecture. * Contribute to Rust componentsand cross-train in modern systems languages. * Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and QA to design, review, test, and deploy solutions. * Deliver horizontally scalable, cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, GCP). * Triage and resolve complex issues in distributed systems. * Engage in Agile rituals, mentoring peers, and continuously improving the engineering process. Essential Criteria: Significant commercial experience developing enterprise-grade software in Python. * Exposure to (or strong interest in) Rust for systems-level development. * Experience building scalable distributed systemsand cloud services (SaaS, PaaS). * Database skills (SQL & NoSQL). * Competence in multiple languages (Python, plus ideally Rust, C++, or TypeScript). * Experience with design patterns, OO principles, and software best practice. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. * Track record of delivering results with autonomy and accountability. * Right to live and work in the UK. Desirable (Nice to Have): Prior exposure to cybersecurity or encryption. * Startup / scale-up engineering experience. * Experience with Rust, Angular, or C++. * CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Helm, Flux). * Linux and Windows development experience. * Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers.
