Job description
In this role, you will take responsibility for designing, building, testing, and supporting infrastructure across hybrid environments, combining on-premises and cloud platforms. You will contribute to creating secure, scalable, and automated solutions using containerisation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native tooling.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple sites, working as part of an agile team to troubleshoot complex issues, optimise performance, and introduce new capabilities. Your role will directly support critical national security systems, where reliability, compliance, and innovation are essential.
Key responsibilities include:

Design & Deploy: Build and manage infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Innovate & Automate: Implement Kubernetes-based platforms, containerisation, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

Secure & Govern: Apply infrastructure security, compliance, and governance best practices.

Troubleshoot & Resolve: Analyse and solve complex infrastructure issues with a problem-solving mindset.

Monitor & Optimise: Use monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

Collaborate & Deliver: Work across diverse stakeholders and agile teams to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
You should have at least three years' experience in infrastructure engineering, with a track record of delivering solutions across hybrid and cloud environments. Strong technical expertise combined with effective communication and collaboration skills will be key to your success.
You should have experience in:

Designing, building, deploying, testing, and supporting infrastructure solutions

Deployment across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS preferred, Azure/GCP desirable)

Kubernetes architecture (pods, services, deployments, networking) and containerisation (Docker)

Platform engineering

Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation

Scripting (Python, Shell, Bash, Java, C++)

Applying infrastructure security, compliance, and governance practices

Working within agile teams and using version control tools such as Git
