WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will join Technology Architecture in Ramboll Tech. You will be working closely with the Enterprise architects, Product architects, AI & Digital products chapter. You will partner with Data product and platform owners and Innovation and Digital Transformation Directors-who drive digitalisation, innovation, and scaling of digital solutions & products across their respective business domains.
As our Data Architect, you will play a key role in transforming data into a strategic asset, by ensuring it is well-structured, governed and leveraged effectively for business growth.
Your focus will be on delivering value by shaping data architecture, roadmaps, and solutions that directly address the challenges and opportunities of our business areas. This role requires expertise in modern data management and analysis technologies, alongside a deep understanding of corporate data management best practices.
As we operate in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC), you can expect a considerable focus on building Engineering data warehouses (EDWH). We are looking for a candidate eager to engage in applying data-centric principles to EDWH to leverage generating valuable business insights.
Where you will make an impact:
- Business needs: Translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure data architectures that are aligned with enterprise data strategy and data architecture. We want to unlock new revenue streams and optimise operational efficiency, by leveraging our Enterprise Data Architecture to transform our data into valuable business assets and implement Al-enabled solutions.
- Design and implement modern data architectures: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, robust and secure data systems using modern data stack technologies. Ensure data architecture is aligned with business objectives.
- Improve and ensure the overall quality of data, including ease of access and use of data assets. Define information and data architecture as a part of an overall business and technology strategy. Design and implement integration solutions that connect disparate business systems and data sources to ensure seamless data flow across the organisation.
- Support data platform teams: Work with data platform teams to design and implement operating models that support efficient data processing, integrations, reporting and AI model deployment and execution.
- Data modelling: Design and develop data models that support business processes, analytics and reporting requirements. Ensure that data models are optimised for performance and scalability.
- Technology roadmaps: Actively engage with technology providers to understand critical, data relevant, technology roadmaps. Explore innovative solutions and evaluate their alignment with business goals and enterprise-wide data strategy, * Own and evolve Ramboll Tech's enterprise data architecture, including data principles, target-state models, and data architecture standards across platforms and products
- Lead the data architectural design transforming the data ecosystems into scalable, AI-ready data products that drive strategic business value and operational excellence
- Accountable to establish, document, and enforce data architecture standards, data modelling guidelines, and best practices across the organisation
- Define and maintain enterprise and domain data models
- Shape data products, contracts, and interoperability patterns
- Guide data platform usage (e.g. DWH / EDWH/ Fabric / analytics layers)
- Ensure that integration points adhere to strict data protection standards across multi-geo environments.
- Implement frameworks for data lineage, data cataloging, and automated observability to ensure trust and reliability in data pipelines
- Design and implement integration solutions that connect disparate business systems and data sources to ensure seamless data flow across the organisation.
- Maintaining repositories for representing the data elements including the entities, relationships and attributes, the information flows, and business glossary
- Contribute to architectural governance by reviewing datarelated designs, guiding teams, and ensuring alignment with Ramboll's target architecture.
- Collaborate closely with data governance teams to embed data quality, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR) directly into data integration pipelines and architectural designs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, product owners, data scientists, data engineer and other SME colleagues in Ramboll Tech, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Work with enterprise architects, product architects, developers and engineers to operationalise data architecture and build robust and scalable technology stacks and platforms for digital and analytic solutions

Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, Do you have a Master's degree?, * Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field., * 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on cloud architecture, data integration and data modelling.
- Deep understanding of the modern data stack and its components.
- Previous engagement in establishing data architecture and data governance.
- Experience in leading data modelling, database design, data warehousing, master data management, data governance practices. Strong skills in data modelling, ETL processes and data integration, having worked with data platform teams.
- Experience in securing and protection of sensitive information
- Experience in AEC industry is great to have.
- Developed data pipelines to extract, transform, and load engineering platform data for analysis and reporting.
- Experience in implementing decentralized data products within a Data Mesh architecture
- Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, GCP or AWS.
Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
- Data Modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical), Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Data Governance, Metadata Management, Master Data Management.
- Skilled in leading the lifecycle of production-grade data products, from conceptual modelling to deployment and continuous optimization
- Familiarity with the DAMA Data Management Framework (DAMA-DMBOK) and its application in managing data as a strategic asset
- Understanding of engineering platforms and data integration with engineering systems (Great to have skill)
- Advanced knowledge of data modelling tools, data lakes, SQL, and pipeline design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Fabric platform (Great to have skill)
- Relevant certifications in cloud technologies are a plus, such as: Data Engineering certifications, Databricks certifications
