Job description
A leading systematic hedge fund is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer responsible for building and maintaining large-scale Linux infrastructure used by researchers, developers and trading teams across the business. The environment is heavily automated and performance focused, with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability and operational excellence.
The role involves improving infrastructure tooling, automating system management, and helping evolve the platform as the firm continues to scale its compute and research capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage and optimise large-scale Linux environment running core trading workloads
- Develop automation and tooling to improve infrastructure reliability and efficiency
- Support high-performance compute and research platforms
- Build / maintain config management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Improve monitoring, observability, reliability
- Troubleshoot complex system and performance issues across OS, networking, and applications
- Support build and release tooling (packaging, repos, open-source components)
Requirements
- Strong Linux Engineering - designing and architecting systems
- Experience within a high-throughput / latency-sensitive trading environment
- Python / Bash scripting
- Automation / config management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Monitoring / observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Elastic)
- Solid server networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, IGMP, LAN/WAN)
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills
- Bonus: C/C++
