Job description
We are seeking a Test & Commissioning Engineer to join our established team. They will be responsible for developing and executing test plans, procedures, and automated test systems to verify the performance, functionality, and reliability of CMS2's products and systems.
This role involves close collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure that all products meet technical specifications and regulatory standards.
The Test Engineer plays a key role in identifying defects, improving test coverage, and supporting continuous product improvement., * Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for hardware and/or software systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define test requirements and improve product quality
- Set-up, configure, test, commission and maintain complex process equipment

- Performing pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and performance validation of equipment in Portsmouth and on site if required.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on mechanical components, piping systems, and plant assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications and safety regulations.
- Carry out, flash testing, Insulation Resistance testing, earth bonding, point to point wiring checks
- Carrying out activities in line with the company's test procedures.
- Investigating mechanical/electrical/electronic/functional problems to assist with diagnosing and repair of faults.
- Work with engineering and technical staff to develop new and existing equipment.
- Document test results, track defects, and support root cause analysis.
- Ensure documentation and test results are recorded consistently and accurately.

Requirements
- NVQ/HNC or above qualification in engineering
- Previous test & commissioning experience in a highly regulated industry (process engineering)
- Strong commitment to health and safety, environment and quality
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as process engineering drawings, specifications and procedures
- Able to use basic test equipment such as, multimeter, Loop calibrators, oscilloscope.
- Good hands on electrical / mechanical skills
- Pragmatic approach to tasks
- Must be able to work efficiently as part of a team and to work under pressure in a challenging environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative
Desirable:
- IOSH Working Safely
- Apprenticeship in relevant engineering field
- HND/Degree qualified in engineering
- Previous experience within a manufacturing and defence environment
- Shipbuilding / Ship Repair background within the MOD / Naval Industry
- Familiar with NPI / NPD
