Job description

I'm supporting a long-established UK organisation with a strong SME customer base that's continuing to invest in its internal and customer-facing technology. They're looking to bring in a Senior Full Stack Engineer to strengthen a small in-house development team and help move several key platforms forward.

This role blends new feature development with the ongoing evolution of an existing core system. You'll have genuine input into technical decisions and work closely with other experienced engineers who care about maintainable code, sensible architecture and steady improvement. The role

  • Building and enhancing web applications across the full stack
  • Contributing to a new greenfield project alongside an established platform
  • Writing clean, well-structured code with testing baked in
  • Taking part in code reviews and collaborative design discussions
  • Working within a structured workflow using tickets and pull requests

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with PHP and a modern framework (Laravel)
  • Frontend experience using React to build user-friendly interfaces
  • Strong experience with Next.js
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and performance considerations
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments
  • Familiarity with software design principles and best practices (Cloud exposure, particularly AWS, is advantageous but not essential)

Benefits & conditions

  • £60k - £75k salary depending on experience
  • Hybrid working model (3 days Manchester-based)
  • Choice of laptop
  • Generous holiday allowance with increases over time
  • Pension contribution and private medical cover
  • Additional perks including wellbeing benefits, social events and flexible working

This would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, values quality over shortcuts, and wants to be part of a stable team building software that's used at real scale.
