Job description
Elevation Design & Projects are supporting the recruitment of a Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of a specialist engineering organisation., The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, modelling, documentation, and compliance activities required to deliver engineered systems and pressure-related equipment. This is a varied and technically challenging role that offers strong opportunities for professional development within a structured and collaborative design team. Design Engineer Key Responsibilities

Interpret customer and project requirements to create innovative mechanical designs for specialised equipment and engineered systems.

Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

Ensure that all designs comply with relevant directives, industry regulations, and applicable engineering standards.

Prepare calculations, technical specifications, and documentation to support certification and quality assurance.

Work collaboratively with electrical, production, and assembly teams to support manufacturing and build activities. Project Delivery & Process Compliance

Contribute to project planning activities to ensure design outputs meet required timescales and cost targets.

Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving sessions, and risk assessments.

Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and during customer presentations as required.

Support the implementation and ongoing adoption of LEAN principles, promoting efficiency and standardisation in design processes.
Requirements
This position is ideal for a post-graduate or apprentice trained engineer, ideally with at least two years of industrial experience who is looking to further develop their technical expertise within a high-integrity, highly regulated engineering environment. Reporting to the Head of Design, the Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the development and delivery of complex mechanical systems for a global customer base., + Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum of two years' experience within a mechanical design role.
- Strong competency in SolidWorks and general Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of project management principles and structured delivery.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical design standards.
- Understanding of Machinery Directive requirements.
- Exposure to high-integrity engineered equipment or similar (Desirable)
- Working knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
