Job description

As a skilled Senior Test Development Engineer, you'll spearhead the design of functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems-driving quality through rigorous design standards, gated reviews, and proactive risk management. Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Test Engineering Leadership: Provide technical direction and mentorship on small to medium-scale programmes.

  • Design Ownership: Deliver robust, reliable test solutions from concept to completion.

  • Process & Governance: Drive compliance with test development processes and tools. Act as key contributor at design gates and reviews, managing risks and opportunities.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with hardware/software teams to align system interfaces and protocols. Act as a main point of contact for customers and suppliers.

  • Development & Support: Develop test hardware/software and validation procedures. Support manufacturing, resolve technical issues, and manage hardware obsolescence.

  • Project & Planning: Track progress, report to leadership, and contribute to resource planning using tools like Microsoft Project.

  • Compliance & Conduct: Uphold company values, H&S legislation, and ethical standards. Support wider business needs as required. The Essentials You'll Need

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in test software design with excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.

  • Documentation & Handover: Skilled in producing clear, comprehensive technical documentation and managing smooth design handover to production.

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Exceptional hardware debugging skills with proven ability to support and troubleshoot during system integration.

Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Significant test development background, ideally within Defence, Aerospace, or other safety-regulated sectors.
  • Tools & Technologies: Proficient in Mentor Graphics for schematic entry and PCB layout; experienced with common test architectures such as PXI and LXI.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty in test design and validation; capable in mixed-signal circuit design, power supply design, and high-speed serial networks, with a working appreciation of RF electronics.
  • Software Expertise: Skilled in NI LabVIEW, NI CVI, NI TestStand, and C#; experience with software certification is a plus.

Benefits & conditions

  • Holiday: 25 days + public holidays, with option to buy/sell 5 days.
  • Flexible Hours: Early 1:30pm finish every Friday.
  • Pension: Up to 10.5% company contribution.
  • Bonus: Discretionary company bonus scheme.
  • Life Cover: 6x salary with pension.
