Job description
We are recruiting for a brand-new Business Systems Administrator role, created to bring fresh thinking and new ideas into our renewables and energy services teams. Reporting to the Head of IT - Energy, you will work within the Operational IT team and alongside Group IT to strengthen the stability, security, and performance of our business systems across cloud, on-premises, and operational technology environments. You will take ownership of core infrastructure, IT assets, software licensing, and vendor management while supporting offshore wind and wider energy operations through secure, compliant technology solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is ready to innovate and make a real impact in a fast-growing sector. The role can be based anywhere in the UK. Occasional presence across our UK offices is required from time to time. What you'll be doing:
- Own and support Windows servers, desktops, cloud systems, and core IT infrastructure.
- Manage secure access controls, permissions, and act as the escalation point for complex issues.
- Lead endpoint management (Intune/SCCM) and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and remote access solutions.
- Oversee firewalls, switches, and network security with managed service providers, ensuring resilience and disaster-recovery readiness.
- Manage IT assets and licences, maintain accurate configuration records, and lead audits and compliance reporting.
- Act as the primary technical contact for vendors, supporting contracts, renewals, and SLA performance.
- Support offshore wind and energy operations, including IT/OT integration and secure connectivity to SCADA systems.
- Ensure systems comply with cyber security, data protection, and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to IT policies, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and standardisation.
- Provide technical input into IT roadmaps and transformation projects.
Requirements
Essential

Extensive experience managing Windows servers, desktops, and enterprise infrastructure.

Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.

Proven track record in IT asset management, software licensing, and audit compliance.

Solid networking knowledge, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switching.

Experience supporting back-office and business-critical systems.

Able to work independently with full accountability for service outcomes.

Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills. Desirable

Microsoft Certified in Azure Administration and/or Microsoft 365 Administration.

ITIL Foundation (or higher).

CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification.

Cyber security or OT security training or certifications.

Experience working in offshore wind, energy, or industrial environments.

Exposure to SCADA platforms and OT/industrial control systems.

Understanding of IT/OT segregation and industrial cyber security principles.

Experience operating in regulated, safety-critical environments.
