Job description

Senior Developer - Platform Engineering Contract | Inside IR35 | £395 per day 6 months+ | UK Wide with travel to Leeds once per fortnight

We are recruiting for a Senior Developer/Platform Engineer to join a team supporting a nationally critical healthcare integration and messaging platform. This is a high-impact contract role working on systems that require strong resilience, security, and engineering discipline.

This role would suit someone with a strong Python development background who is equally comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and secure software delivery.

The opportunity You will help maintain and improve a complex cloud-based platform that supports secure, high-availability data exchange across a large-scale environment. The work will involve improving code quality, supporting deployment standards, strengthening platform engineering practices, and contributing to the reliability and security of live services.

What we're looking for

  • Strong experience as a Senior Python Developer
  • Good exposure to cloud-native development, ideally AWS
  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tooling
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tooling
  • Strong understanding of the Secure Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience developing secure, reliable software in complex environments
  • Ability to support incident investigation and problem resolution
  • Experience working closely with product or engineering teams as a technical SME
  • Understanding of shift-left security practices, including static and dynamic analysis

  • Promoting good platform and software engineering practices
  • Building reusable infrastructure and pipeline components
  • Understanding how platform teams can improve delivery across wider engineering functions

Important details

  • £395 per day
  • 6 months initial contract, with potential to extend
  • Travel to Leeds once every fortnight
  • You must be willing to join an on-call rota once fully up to speed
  • Candidates must be SC eligible
  • You must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
