Software Engineer

We're supporting a large-scale NHS-backed digital programme and are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the team on a contract basis.

This role sits at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and hands-on engineering. You'll play a key role in shaping technical direction, unblocking developers, and ensuring scalable, secure solutions across a modern serverless AWS stack., You'll act as a technical SME working closely with product, engineering, and wider stakeholders to:

• Assess technical feasibility of new features and initiatives
• Define implementation approaches and architecture
• Provide hands-on support to unblock engineers and drive delivery
• Own and guide technical decision making across the stack
• Collaborate with 3rd parties and navigate typical NHS governance and assurance processes

There's also an element of working within a broader data ecosystem, including a Databricks platform managed by the team.

• Translate product requirements into scalable, secure solutions
• Support and mentor engineers, removing blockers quickly
• Ensure best practices across serverless architecture and DevOps
• Work within NHS frameworks including:
• Clinical assurance
• Stakeholder engagement
• Managing third-party dependencies

• Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js and React
• Proven background in AWS serverless architecture
• Experience designing and delivering production-grade systems

Solid understanding of:

• OIDC/federated authentication
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
• Comfortable operating as a technical lead/senior SME
