Job description

The Software Test Engineer works closely with software developers, system architects, and project teams to ensure that software components are deployed, tested, and validated effectively on Linux-based targets. The position combines hands-on technical work-such as writing and executing test plans, debugging issues, building and deploying containerised applications. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of Linux systems, software testing practices, scripting, and modern software delivery approaches, alongside the ability to work proactively and maintain high standards of quality and documentation., * Integrate complex software components into distributed platforms.

  • Develop and execute verification plans, scripts, and wider software test activities.
  • Work with software engineers to troubleshoot, debug, and validate software on Linux targets.
  • Package and deploy software using containerisation technologies such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
  • Apply software best practices including unit testing, static analysis, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Contribute to software build pipelines (Jenkins or Git runners) and configuration management workflows.
  • Produce technical documentation and maintain test deliverables.
  • Participate in project reporting, risk management, and regular engineering meetings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
