Job description

Acorn Insurance is looking for a Junior AI Engineer to join our AI Squad in Liverpool. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role centred on workflow automation. You'll be building and maintaining intelligent, event-driven workflows that directly improve how we operate. If you're comfortable in the automation and integration space, enjoy solving practical problems with technology, and want to grow within a team that's serious about AI adoption, this role is for you. You'll join a small, focused AI Squad working on real, high-impact problems across the business. We move quickly, build things ourselves, and care about doing it properly. There's genuine scope to grow as the team and its remit expands., * Design, build, and maintain automated workflows using n8n as your primary tool. This is the core of the role.

  • Translate business requirements into well-structured, maintainable workflow logic, working closely with operational teams to understand their processes.
  • Integrate n8n workflows with internal systems, APIs, and AI services (including LLMs) to create end-to-end automation solutions.
  • Monitor, debug, and iterate on live workflows to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to documentation, standards, and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Complete a structured onboarding plan covering our tooling, delivery standards, and key integrations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in REST?, * Practical experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n, Make, Zapier, or similar. Hands-on n8n experience is a strong advantage.

  • Comfort working with APIs (REST/webhook), JSON, and basic scripting in Python or JavaScript.
  • A process-oriented mindset: you can look at a manual workflow and see how to automate it well.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to build things that are clean, reliable, and easy to hand over.
  • A willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-moving, delivery-focused environment.

Formal AI/ML credentials are not required. What matters is practical ability and the right approach.
