Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience operating production infrastructure across on-prem and cloud.
- Proven experience with migration projects (on-prem to cloud and/or modernization).
- Experience with automation and configuration management.
- Degree in IT, computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent in English.

The Information Technology (IT) team of the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) provides IT infrastructure and services to support 20 scientific research groups and multiple technology platforms .
As a world-class research institute, our ability to generate insight from large-scale experimental data depends on reliable, scalable, and modern computing platforms. We are transforming from traditional on-premises infrastructure to a modern hybrid cloud architecture.
We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to help drive this transformation.
In this role, you will
* Plan and execute migrations of applications and data to modern platforms and the cloud.
* Design and implement integrations of on-prem systems with cloud services, primarily AWS.
* Automate infrastructure and operations, building on and evolving our current use of Ansible.
* Improve platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency during and after migration.
* Collaborate with scientists and IT colleagues to deliver practical, maintainable solutions., The FMI is a world-class biomedical research institute affiliated with the University of Basel and Novartis Biomedical Research.
