Job description

Our team's mission is to make sure application teams can focus on business logic instead of framework configurations and integrations. Scalable Capital was built in the cloud from day one. Our services currently run on various AWS services like ECS, Fargate and Lambda and are distributed across multiple accounts. We embrace a DevOps culture where the development teams manage their CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for their services themself. The Application Framework Team focuses on providing and maintaining ready to use, secure, up to date and quality assured application templates/reference implementations, best practices as well as integrations based on the most commonly used frameworks and architecture components in Scalable.

  • Architect and pioneer the future of microservices at Scalable, focusing on performance, security, and cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and understand application requirements for our platform
  • Lead the design and development of "Service in a day" application templates (Spring Boot, Node.js, Python Lambdas), setting the standard for speed and integration across the company
  • Pioneer the adoption and best practices for AI Coding tools to accelerate developer workflows
  • Drive critical technology migrations (e.g., Spring Boot upgrades), centralizing best practices and enabling 40+ application teams
  • Take full ownership of core architectural components and central integration libraries used across all application teams
  • Research and develop service and storage improvements by using serverless technologies and optimise our services and CICD to optimise scalability, cost and performance
  • Be the central expert for vulnerability analysis of key frameworks (e.g. Spring boot, node.js/next.js, python lambdas, apollo, express), identifying false positives and creating reusable security solution patterns for our extensive application landscape for 40+ application teams.
  • Mentor and enable our software development teams to further foster our DevOps culture by educating them and providing reusable and unified building blocks which can be used to improve standardisation, performance and security.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and techniques related to application frameworks and best practices.
  • Design and implement best practices around application performance and security
  • Take ownership of central services like GraphQL Hive and gateway, Envoy, AWS services like ECS/ Elasticache and Opensearch and messaging solutions like SNS, SQS and Kafka

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the programming language: Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot)
  • Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (preferably Terraform)
  • Solid understanding of scalable system design principles, distributed systems, and cloud technologies
  • General understanding of software systems and how they interact with each other (e.g microservice architectures, event driven architectures)
  • A passion for automating, improving processes and working together with other developer teams
  • Great skills in communication and visualisation of complex systems
  • A degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences) or work experience in a role that typically requires a university degree
  • Full professional proficiency in English and the ability to communicate concisely in an international English-speaking environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
