Network Security Engineer (SOC)

• British citizenship is required for this role, due to security restrictions
• Proven experience with enterprise firewall platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto, or Checkpoint.
• Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and VLAN architectures., * Manage and optimize high-availability firewall and proxy environments to ensure robust perimeter protection.
• Lead the technical response to security incidents by performing deep-packet analysis and traffic interrogation.
• Collaborate with internal security teams to design and implement secure network segmentation and SSL decryption policies.
• Maintain the integrity of security appliances through proactive lifecycle management and complex troubleshooting.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise during out-of-hours response windows to mitigate emerging threats.

• Strong technical background in network engineering with a focus on security hardware.
• Hands-on experience configuring and managing Next-Generation Firewalls and secure web gateways.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as PRTG or Nagios for maintaining estate visibility.
• Ability to analyse complex traffic flows to distinguish between administrative actions and potential threats.
• Clear communication skills for reporting technical risks to both engineering and leadership teams.

This position is based full-time on-site in Stevenage to maintain the security of the internal network infrastructure. Due to the nature of work at our client's site, these vacancies are only open to British Citizens who hold SC clearance or can obtain it. This is a permanent role.
