Solutions Architect (Data/Databricks) - Contract

• Location: Fully remote (UK & Europe)
• IR35: Outside IR35 (UK)
• Rate: £450-£500 per day
• Immediate start preferred

We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect with a strong data background to join a high-impact, enterprise-level transformation programme.

This is a fully remote contract opportunity suited to a hands-on architect with deep expertise across Databricks, AWS, and modern data platforms, combined with strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.

The Role

You will play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions within a complex environment. This position requires a proactive individual who can lead from the front, manage risks effectively, and drive high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end data architecture solutions on AWS
• Lead data migration from on-premise environments to cloud platforms
• Develop and optimise data models to deliver actionable business insights
• Build and manage PySpark-based data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
• Work with large datasets to extract, transform, and analyse data
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions, clarify requirements, and challenge assumptions
• Drive automation and scalability across data workflows
• Ensure robust documentation and best practice implementation

Key Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience (15+ years) in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or similar roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks on AWS, PySpark, and Python
• Proven track record of cloud data migration (on-prem to AWS)
• Experience with ETL tools (eg Informatica)
• Strong data analytics and data modelling expertise
• Exposure to LLMs/GenAI, including fine-tuning and optimisation
• Experience implementing automation-driven data migration solutions
• Strong SQL and data manipulation skills (eg Pandas)
• Broad understanding of cloud infrastructure and ecosystem integration
