Job description
Senior AWS Architect/Platform Engineer - Critical Systems (Hands-On Role)
We're hiring on behalf of a client operating in high-security, mission-critical environments where uptime, resilience, and security are non-negotiable.
This is a deeply hands-on engineering role suited to someone who can design, build, and operate production-grade AWS platforms, not just architect them.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve core AWS infrastructure across compute, networking, and storage in a live production environment
- Design, deploy, and optimise highly available Back End systems (Redis, MSK/Kafka) supporting Real Time workloads
- Take full ownership of AWS RDS (PostgreSQL)
- Build and maintain robust data/reporting pipelines
- Operate and scale EKS (Kubernetes) clusters
- Implement and manage GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) and CI/CD pipelines end-to-end
- Drive security best practices across AWS
- Perform deep troubleshooting across the stack
- Optimise container builds and runtime performance
Experience
- Has strong, hands-on AWS experience in live, production environments
- Is comfortable owning systems end-to-end, from design to incident resolution
- Has worked in high-availability, high-security, or critical systems environments
- Can debug complex issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers
- Brings an engineering mindset
